Racinos seek major expansion of gambling in NM

New Mexico’s horse racetracks and racinos are proposing a sweeping expansion in their state-regulated gambling, including internet gaming and 24-hour casino operations. In addition, according to draft legislation obtained by the Journal, the state’s five racetrack casinos would be allowed to have an unlimited number of video slot machines, table games and on-site sports betting parlors.

Trainer given 34 years suspension by New Mexico racing commission

Quarter horse trainer Bobby Martinez was given a 34-year suspension and fined $480,000, the New Mexico Racing Commission announced in a release. The release stated the horses had eight positive tests for a Class 1 substance.
