North Dakota lawmakers seek study of historic horse racing, walking back contentious proposal
A North Dakota Senate committee has opted to study whether to allow bets on past horse races, walking back a heavily lobbied proposal to expand the state's gambling options. The Senate Government and Veterans Affairs Committee voted Thursday, March 21, in favor of the study bill, which replaced a proposal to allow historic horse racing wagers at simulcast facilities. It could receive a vote on the Senate floor in the coming days.
